Helping Our Community
Make an Impact
One Meal at a Time
Volunteering with Fox Valley Food for Health is a meaningful way to support families navigating serious health challenges. By sharing your time and talents, you help prepare and deliver nourishing meals while becoming part of a compassionate, purpose-driven community.
Your involvement does more than provide food—it offers comfort, dignity, and connection to those who need it most. Along the way, you’ll gain hands-on experience and build relationships that are both inspiring and lasting. Join us in making a difference—one meal, one family, and one act of care at a time.

Join our Volunteer Community
We invite you to become part of the Food for Health community in a way that is both personally fulfilling and educational. Join our volunteer family of remarkable, caring individuals who are working together to nourish, support, and enrich our community. Through our volunteers, Fox Valley Food for Health unites the compassion, energy, and goodwill of teens and adults with the knowledge of professional chefs, skilled gardeners, and dietitians to serve the nutritional needs of individuals facing serious illness and their families.
Healthy Meals Program
Adult
Teen
At the heart of our mission is our Healthy Meals Program, where each week in our commercial kitchen, trained adult volunteers mentor teen volunteers in the preparation of organic, nourishing meals.
Prepared with care and intention, our meals are packaged and delivered to individuals and families facing cancer and other serious illnesses.
Teen Chef Program
Teen
Our Teen Chef Program gives teens the opportunity to make a meaningful difference while developing valuable life skills. Working alongside adult kitchen mentors, teen volunteers help prepare and package nutritious meals for individuals and families facing serious illness. T
he program offers hands-on experience in nutrition, healthy cooking, food safety, teamwork, and service. It also creates a welcoming environment where teens can connect with peers from across the Fox Valley and grow as compassionate leaders.
Organic Garden Program
Adult
Teen
From spring through fall, Food for Health grows fresh organic vegetables and herbs at Mooseheart Child City and School in Batavia to support our Healthy Meals program. This generous partnership allows us to expand our food production and supply the kitchen with more fresh, locally grown ingredients.
By growing more of our own food, we reduce purchasing costs, shorten the distance ingredients travel, and increase the freshness and quality of the meals we provide.

Delivery Angels
At Food for Health, we provide more than restorative meals—we offer meaningful, personalized support to every recipient. Many of our volunteer “Delivery Angels” were once recipients themselves, creating a uniquely empathetic and understanding community.
We are intentional in how we match recipients with volunteers, often pairing individuals with someone who has experienced a similar diagnosis. This connection offers more than a delivery—it creates a trusted space to share questions, concerns, and fears with someone who truly understands the journey.
For many, this relationship becomes an invaluable source of comfort and connection during what can otherwise feel like an isolating time.
